Getting drunk a sin?
by Coop Man ini have a pretty interesting perspective on this.....especially since i once had all of my privledges removed because i had admitted to an elder that i was hungover..... the scriptures state that drunkards will not inherit gods' kingdom, nor will gluttons.... gluttony is the practice of over-eating, much the same is being a drunkard is one who is continuously drunk.
so, in my feeble mind, getting drunk "once-in-a-while" is not a sin, just the same as overeating at mcdonalds or at grandma's house is not a sin.. am i incorrect in my reasoning?.

I have a hard time blaming the Watchtower
by spiritwalker in" if the watchtower said it, and the men on the platform preached it, then it must have been true.
so it was very hard to accept as an adult, that they were wrong.

Facial Hair and J.W.'s
by Coop Man ini have always wondered why witnesses are not "allowed" to have facial hair.
when i asked a local elder just a few weeks ago (he had no idea i was inactive, just happened to bump into him while my parents were visiting from out of town), his explanation was that "in some countries, it is totally acceptable to have beards, goatees etc...., but in the u.s. of a., facial hair is a sign of rebellion.
so, the local or territorial opinions on beards is what drives the local congregations policies.

the elders wife asked me what my name is, i said shane she asked me if i was a jehovah's witness to which i said i used to be.
i told her i used to be disfellowshipped then i did the usual thing and sent the letter then got reinstated.

The elders wife asked me what my name is, I said Shane she asked me if I was a Jehovah's Witness to which I said I used to be. I told her I used to be disfellowshipped then I did the usual thing and sent the letter then got reinstated. But I only attended a few months for many reasons one being I know they would not help me send to the authorities the witness who sexually abused my daughter even to the point of telling my daughters not to say anything to anyone, or even tell me eventually leavening it up to my kids to tell me. At that point sister Judy said "Well just who was it that reported him Shane ! I said to Judy it was me and my oldest daughter Spring and no one else. She acted like it was not possible, I told her Judy if it would not have been for me Noris the other child abuser would still be doing his daughter and grand kids. She said well Shane you know its the "truth"! I told her you mean its the truth for me to shun or ignor my loving brother Dan who was there for me when people in the truth would leave a grocery line to get away from me, not knowing the stress I was going through. I told her I could never be a witness again if it ment I had to ignor those I love in their time of need, I have had it done to me, Now that I have had it done to me I could never do it again to someone else. I looked at them both and said hell judy I had a few witness's tell my little daughter Aleigh she could not set next to me while being disfellowshipped, which made us both cry. Don't you think that is sick Judy? At that the Elders wife said do you still read the litature I said yeah from time to time, but I am NOT guilted into thinking that I have to do anything it says I let my good sense tell me now.
